Statistical Observation of Bacterial Mastitis

Abstract

|
Suppurative mastitis is almost a complication of the puerperium which can cripple a women physically emotionally and economically.
The etiological agent is a coagulase positive staphylococcus and before the advent of antibiotics, development of breast abscess endangered the life of the patient, and at the present time it fequently results in extensive destruction of breast and disfigurement of breast.
Statistical observation about the etiologic agent,- shape of nipple and location on. the breast were made about 100 cases from Jan. 1964 though Dec. 1971. The most common site of breast abscess is inner upper; quadrant of breast and nipple retraction, is a common predisposing factor for breast infection.
